Chicken Tikka Masala Recipe;
Ingredients:
For the Chicken Tikka:
500g boneless chicken (thighs or breast), cut into bite-sized pieces
½ cup plain yogurt
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp garam masala
1 tsp cumin powder
1 tsp coriander powder
1 tsp red chili powder (adjust to taste)
1 tbsp ginger-garlic pasteSalt to taste
1 tbsp oil or melted butter
For the Masala Sauce:2 tbsp oil or butter
1 large onion, finely chopped
2 tomatoes, pureed
1 tbsp tomato paste
1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp coriander powder
1 tsp garam masala
1 tsp turmeric powder
½ tsp red chili powder (optional)
½ cup heavy cream or coconut milk
¼ cup cashew paste (optional, for creaminess)
½ cup water (adjust for consistency)
Salt to taste
Fresh cilantro leaves for garnishInstructions: Step 1: Marinate the Chicken;
In a bowl, combine yogurt, lemon juice, turmeric, garam masala, cumin powder, coriander powder, chili powder, ginger-garlic paste, salt, and oil. Mix well.
Add the chicken pieces and coat them evenly in the marinade. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (or overnight for the best flavor
Step 2: Cook the Chicken;Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F) or heat a grill pan.
Thread the marinated chicken onto skewers or spread them on a lined baking sheet.
Cook for 15-20 minutes, turning occasionally, until charred and fully cooked. Alternatively, cook in a pan with a little oil over medium heat until golden brown. Set aside.
Step 3: Prepare the Masala Sauce;
- Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown
- Stir in ginger-garlic paste and cook for a minute until fragrant.
- Pour in the tomato puree and tomato paste. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the oil separates.
- Add turmeric, coriander powder, garam masala, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.
- Pour in the cashew paste (if using) and stir to combine.
- Add the grilled chicken tikka pieces and mix well with the sauce.
- Pour in water to adjust the consistency. Simmer for 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the heavy cream and mix well. Let it simmer for 2 more minutes.
Step 4: Garnish and Serve
- Turn off the heat and garnish with fresh cilantro.
- Serve hot with naan, roti, or steamed rice.
Tips for the Best Chicken Tikka Masala:
- Use boneless chicken thighs for a juicier texture.
- Marinate the chicken overnight for deeper flavors.
- For extra smokiness, place a hot charcoal piece in a small bowl in the pan, drizzle oil on it, and cover for a few minutes.
